 Pain Points Solved 

  • Traditional infant monitoring devices typically rely only on video or audio surveillance and lack the capability to identify potentially hazardous objects in real time.
  • Caregivers are often unable to immediately detect when an infant approaches dangerous objects, which increases the risk of accidents due to delayed intervention.
  • Existing solutions lack long-term behavioral data analysis, making it difficult for caregivers to identify recurring hazardous interactions and implement effective preventive measures.

 Technology Introduction 

The “Baby Sentinel Guardian” leverages YOLOv8 object detection technology, enhanced via transfer learning, to enable a compact computing center to identify hazardous objects in real time. An image-based distance measurement system then determines the proximity between the infant and these objects. When a baby is dangerously close, the computing center sends an alert to the caregiver’s app, prompting immediate attention. Additionally, the system provides a monthly analysis of which dangerous objects the baby frequently comes into contact with. While primarily designed for households with infants aged 7 months to 2 years, this solution also aids childcare personnel in monitoring multiple children simultaneously, thereby improving care quality and minimizing accident risks.

 Application Examples 

  • Home Use: In a home environment, when an infant approaches high-risk objects such as electrical outlets or sharp items, the system detects the proximity in real time and sends an alert to the caregiver’s app for immediate attention.
  • Childcare Centers: In childcare centers, the system enables simultaneous monitoring of multiple children and issues alerts when a child approaches hazardous areas such as kitchens, stairways, or restricted zones, thereby enhancing overall safety management.
  • Behavioral Analysis Reports: The system generates monthly reports analyzing the types of dangerous objects the infant frequently encounters, helping caregivers understand behavioral patterns and environmental risks and improve the safety of care environments.
