Pain Points Solved
This technology addresses the lack of objective methods for evaluating rodent repellent efficacy. The Rodent Avoidance Testing Device connects a chamber containing a repellent and a control chamber without a repellent. Coloring agents at the entrances and light-colored floor materials reveal rodent tracks, allowing activity in the two chambers to be compared to assess the repellent’s effectiveness. The device provides a basis for manufacturers to evaluate and improve their products and helps consumers make informed purchasing decisions, enhancing the credibility and practical value of rodent repellents.
Technology Introduction
This rodent avoidance testing device consists of a rodent introduction chamber, a connecting passage, a test chamber, and a control chamber. A rodent repellent is placed in the test chamber, while coloring agents at the entrances to both chambers and light-colored floor materials allow rodents to leave visible tracks as they enter and move around. By comparing rodent activity in the chambers with and without the repellent, the device enables evaluation of its repellent efficacy and supports product development, performance validation, and formulation improvement.
Application Examples
The device can be used for the development and efficacy evaluation of rodent repellents. For example, when developing a new formulation, manufacturers can place the repellent in the test chamber and compare it with a control chamber containing no repellent. Tracks left by rodents reveal whether they enter the treated area less frequently, providing a basis for assessing repellent efficacy. The device can also be used to compare different formulations or application amounts, helping manufacturers refine product designs and providing testing organizations with a tool for evaluating product performance.
